Acrobat, minus the acrobatics.
Read, mark up, sign, merge, compress and redact PDFs on your Mac. No subscription. No sign-in. No watermark. Free, forever.
Free forever. For macOS 14 or later, on Apple silicon and Intel.
This agreement is made between You (the Reader) and every PDF you will ever open (the Documents). It takes effect immediately, because it costs nothing.
1. Fees. The Reader shall pay nothing. Not monthly, not annually, and not “just this once to unlock Pro.”
2. Accounts. No sign-in shall be required to open a file the Reader already owns. Imagine that.
3. Watermarks. None. The Documents leave exactly as they arrived, plus whatever the Reader adds.
4. Privacy. The Documents stay on the Reader’s Mac. There is no cloud. There is only the Mac.
5. Confidential. The Reader’s banking PIN is 4071 and the Wi‑Fi password is the cat’s name, twice.
Open anything.
Contracts, scans, 900-page manuals. It’s built on Apple’s own PDF engine, so it opens fast and scrolls like butter.
And nothing you don’t. No toolbars full of buttons that open a paywall. If you can see it, you can use it.

Yes. Every feature is free, with no trial, no watermark, no ads and no paid tier. You don’t need an account, and you never will.
There isn’t one. PDF Unlimited runs entirely on your Mac, so there are no servers or cloud storage costing money every month. Without those costs, there’s no reason to charge you a subscription.
Not yet. You can add text anywhere with a text box, annotate, sign, fill forms, redact, and rearrange, merge or split pages. Retyping the original words in place is on the list.
No. PDF Unlimited never uploads your files, and the app doesn’t collect analytics. OCR, compression and redaction all happen on your Mac.
